What explains the technical efficiency of banks in Tunisia? Evidence from a two-stage data envelopment analysis

چکیده

Abstract In this study we examine the potential determinants of technical efficiency for Tunisian commercial banking sector over period 1995–2017. First, estimate with a radial and non-radial bootstrap data envelopment analysis. For technique, use an input-oriented approach Range Adjusted Measure (RAM). Second, double bootstrapping regression technique to influence set eventual on efficiency. Finally, based all possible regressions, gauge overall effect each determinant. Our results reveal that RAM gave somewhat similar results. We found return equity, expense income ratio, loan deposit growth rate are insignificant particular, increases capitalization inflation, whereas, it decreases size, number bank branches, management staff asset ratio. addition, identified evidence supporting moderate success last decade reforms noticeable one post-revolution in helping improve The reforms, largely revolving around reinforcing rules good governance supervision, coupled restructuring public banks, were be insufficient raise despite improvement private banks.

International evidence on the impact of regulations and supervision on banks’ technical efficiency: an application of two-stage data envelopment analysis

This study uses a sample of 715 banks from 95 countries and two-stage data envelopment analysis (DEA) to provide international evidence on the impact of regulations and supervision approaches on banks’ efficiency. We first use DEA to estimate technical and scale efficiency. We then use Tobit regression to investigate the impact of several regulations related to capital adequacy, private monitor...

Measuring the efficiency of a three-stage network using data envelopment analysis approach considering dual boundary

This paper presents a method for performance evaluation, ranking and clustering based on the double-frontier view to analyze the complex networks. The model allows us to open the structure of the “black box” and can help to obtain important information about efficient and inefficient points of the system. In this paper, we consider a three-stage network, in respect to the additional desirable a...

The directional hybrid measure of efficiency in data envelopment analysis

The efficiency measurement is a subject of great interest. The majority of studies on DEA models have been carried out using radial or non-radial approaches regarding the application of DEA for the efficiency measurement. This paper, based on the directional distance function, proposes a new generalized hybrid measure of efficiency under generalized returns to scale with the existence of both r...
